Schools - Students & Staffing
Motion:
“That ICPA Qld lobbies for the Minister of Education and The Arts, the Department of Education (DoE) and the Qld Teachers’ Union to work together to ensure Teaching Principals who have acted in the role at a single school for two years become permanent in the role prior to the commencement of a third year.”
Explanation:
When an Acting Principal has become deeply embedded not only within the school, but also within the broader community, and where attendance, engagement and student outcome data demonstrate a clear positive impact, maintaining that leader in an ongoing “acting” capacity benefits no one. It creates uncertainty for staff, students and the community, and undermines the stability and continuity that small schools rely upon to thrive.
